Appletosh announced iTunes movie rentals last week, to some mixed reactions. You can rent them directly from the Apple TV if you have one, sweet. You can rent HD movies for $5, sweet... for $5 though? I guess that is the going rate at blockbuster. But for that much I can rent from netflix. And for $20 I can pretty much get as much as I want from netflix...

However not being a huge movie buff, I don't have the sweet 500 yard long television in my livingroom with 7.1 surround sound, nor do I have an hd-dvd or blue ray player, but I do have a laptop and iPhone, so when I spontaneously decide that I'd really love to see Blades of Glory, for $4 and about 15 minutes later I can be watching it on my iPhone, which, doesn't sound great at first, but it is pretty nice to be able to watch it in pieces broken up through the day when I have a few minutes to spare here and there.

3 or 4 days instead of 24 hours would be really nice though.
