Rate Your iTunes Library in Your Spare Time
If you read one of my previous posts about how great smart playlists with ratings can be, you might find this tip useful.
I love having a top rated and a five star playlist, I can just click the playlist and I know that only great jams are going to play. The only problem with this is that only about 5-10% of my library has been rated. I never have the time to do it, so how do I solve this first world dilemma?
With a unrated playlist of course! I just created a smart playlist where it grabs songs that don't have a rating, limited to 100 songs, selected at random. If I'm in iTunes, I just put it on, and give the songs ratings (you can even setup Quicksilver to do this with hot keys from any app) and as soon as you rate it, it removes it from the playlist.
The other nice thing is when I sync with my iPhone, I've got a random assortment of 100 extra songs that I can put on during the day and assign ratings to them. Anything given 1-3 stars will not come back onto the iPhone on the next sync, anything 4-5 gets thrown into the Top-Rated playlist and I'll always have it.
Great success!
