FriendFeed & Facebook: The Ultimate Social Network Funnel
Today I gave www.friendfeed.com a whirl, and for the first time, feel like all these web services that I use are actually connected in a way that works for non-geeks as well.
Let's face it, most people are on myspace or Facebook, with more and more people going to Facebook every day. It's easy enough to use, and since they have added applications, any other website out there with an API has a way to integrate the two.
Most of my friends use pretty much only Facebook to store their photos, connect with friends, share stuff, etc. But myself and a handful of other friends use services like www.twitter.com , www.pownce.com , www.tublr.com , www.flickr.com , www.digg.com .
Until now there wasn't a way to really connect all of these in a way that made sense to the average person. Friendfeed aggregates your activity on all of these other sites and pulls them into a feed, which can become a Facebook app. Then when you post to flickr, listen to a song on www.last.fm , make a twitter post, or share something on pownce, your normal facebook friends will be alerted of it in your mini-feed. It's a geek speak translator for everyone else.
